Project Management Seminars For the Small Business Owner

It is said that Time is Money. In the business world the wasting of time and resources can add up to large losses. This is especially harmful to small and growing businesses that depend on profits for daily running and future growth. The small business is very flexible and can change business plans and modules without too much collateral damage. The streamlining of a small business needs to be attained as soon as the business plan of the company is set and running effectively. Most new and small businesses cannot afford the expense of employing Project Management (PM) Consultants and hence often suffer from the lack of a Project Management Office (PMO).

Small businesses and start-ups that cannot afford the professional PM consultants have the option of employing free PM techniques. These free PM Templates can be adapted and used by small businesses to control and run their business dealings. The Project Management approach to business requires that the business dealings be treated as Projects. These Projects are a means of running the daily business and all the things that go with it. In order to implement the PM Protocols you need to study the subject a bit. Project Management is a science and needs to be studied with that in mind.

Once a small business or start-up ha decided to use free PM Templates in order to streamline their business, the process needs to be studied and understood. The implementation of PM should be preceded by a thorough study and analysis of the process. Books and material from the internet is the best source for this study. Most businesses now-a-days use these protocols and an employee of yours have an understanding of the workings of a Project Management Office. The material you obtain may be a little complicated and hard to understand. This article will explain the basics of a PMO to help you get started.

The main element of the PMO is the 'Dashboard'. The dashboard is a page or pages that display the tasks that need to be completed for a client or project. Each task can be assigned to a person with a timescale for completion. a dashboard is created for each employee and the tasks appear on the dashboard once they have been assigned. The assigning is done from the administration page. Only the team leaders and the people of the Project Management Office have access to the admin page. A separate page is created for the client to monitor the progress of his or her project.

The Project Management Office should consist of a team of individuals that will maintain the Project Management system. The team should consist of a software engineer or programmer who will build and maintain the system. The other persons on the team monitor progress of the various projects and deal the business propositions and responding to client complaints. The small business will most likely need to invest in a sever of its own. These are a few pointers to get the Project Management started. For more detailed information refer to material from a local library or the internet.
