One of the facets of management that are being covered in management training programs is personal improvement through personal coaching. This involves skill improvement in proper communication techniques, organizational expertise and motivational practice. Almost all companies nowadays require their management staff to undergo and accomplish skill and knowledge enriching programs, and as a matter of fact, a lot of companies only offer career advancement to employees who have undergone several programs already.

There is a healthy merging of business and psychology happening in programs for corporate management, and this is greatly becoming more common because all elements of any business will definitely cover people skills, motivation, relationship and problem resolution.

Management training programs are generally geared towards bringing out the kind of leader each participant is by properly exploring their personalities through testing and examinations which determine their style of management. There are also key exercises which the participant has to perform or complete in order for the facilitator to have a wider understanding on the leadership style preferred by the attendee.

There are two major types that are generally found among the managers, although in essence there are many leadership styles that can be defined from these programs. These two are the permissive management style and the autocratic leadership style. A permissive style of management allows and invites more input from team members, and upon arriving at a collective consensus, the decision will be vetoed upon and decided by the manager afterwards. In contrast, lan autocratic leadership style pertains to a leader who makes independent decisions that may not be based on the team's input and consensus.

In each of the mentioned major styles, there may be variations to the management situations, and in some cases, a leader could apply the same style of leadership. But, most managers may lean toward a particular type of leadership based on his temperament. It runs true that there are people who are born to be natural leaders, whose enigmatic charisma can easily make others follow him with high morale and loyalty, however, even this personality can be honed and trained to become more productive by thorough and careful assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the leader. Management training programs can provide the necessary tools; appropriate insight and solid motivation to help a manager and a leader achieve the necessary level of management skill to be successful in any field of business.
